Augustine, in a dark pit of despair, heard a child singing "Take up and read!" These words prompted him to pick up Romans and as he read, he became convinced of the good news of Jesus Christ. He wrote: "a light as it were of serenity infused into my heart, all the darkness of doubt vanished away." (Confessions of Augustine)
As we read and study Romans together, we will be reminded how good news transforms us, unites us, and compels us, and how we are all part of the Familia Romana, through the blood of Christ.
