Our Leadership Structure
In Scripture, we find two distinct groups of people who exercise leadership in the church under the Lordship of Jesus Christ:
Our Pastors & Elders
These men are appointed to the spiritual oversight in the church. Some of our elders are working full time for the church. Our teaching pastor focuses on rightly dividing the Word and being a teacher of teachers; our discipleship and youth ministries pastor serves the congregation in focused ministries.
All of our elders meet the biblical qualifications for this office as laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-16.
Senior (preaching) Pastor
This position is currently vacant as we are in the process of seeking a new Senior Pastor.
Nick Baetz - Discipleship Pastor
Nick Baetz has been at Peoples Church since 2016. He is a graduate of Heritage College and Seminary with his Bachelor of Religious Education in Youth and Family Ministries and recently began his Master of Divinity at Heritage College and Seminary.
Nick began serving in youth ministry in 2010 as a volunteer, and felt God calling him to pursue ministry vocationally after graduating from Bible College.
Nick is married to Cassandra and they have three young sons and one daughter. Nick enjoys playing and watching sports, going on hikes with his family, and playing mini sticks with his sons. Nick loves teaching and studying God’s Word and loves ministering to the congregation at Peoples. He desires to see people come to know Christ as Lord and Saviour and to grow in their walk with Him as disciples of Christ.
Seth Kember - Youth Pastor
Seth began serving as the youth pastor at Peoples Church in 2024. He grew up in Sarnia and Peoples Church has been his home since he was ten years old. Seth is married to Grace and they have two daughters. The Lord saved Seth when he was eight years old after he was convicted of his sin and need of a Saviour upon reading Romans 10:9. During his final year of high school, Seth felt the Lord calling him to pursue pastoral ministry. This led Seth to pursue training for the ministry at Boyce College (Bachelor in Biblical and Theological Studies) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity).
Now, after growing up attending the youth groups at Peoples Church, Seth is excited to shepherd the next generation and teach them the life-giving truths of God’s Word (Ps. 78:4; John 6:68). Alongside the other elders, Seth’s passion is to make disciples of all nations for the glory God and the good of Christ’s Church.
In his free time, Seth loves to spend time with his family, go to the beach, camp, listen to good music and read.
Our Deacons
These men serve our congregation in hands-on, practical ways. Our ministers of mercy, they assist the elders by facilitating ministry with the material and physical needs of the people. These two groups work in concert with the congregation to encourage and foster a vibrant Body Life that reflects Christ's intended desire for His people at Peoples Church.
