Our Leadership Structure
In Scripture, we find two distinct groups of people who exercise leadership in the church under the Lordship of Jesus Christ:
Our Pastors & Elders
These men are appointed to the spiritual oversight in the church. Some of our elders are working full time for the church. Our teaching pastor focuses on rightly dividing the Word and being a teacher of teachers; our associate and our youth and family pastors serve the congregation in focused ministries.
All of our elders meet the biblical qualifications for this office as laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-16.
Kevin Mahon - Senior (Preaching) Pastor
Kevin Mahon has been the preaching pastor at Peoples Church since 1999. Previously, he served at Arnstein Baptist Church for 8 years. Kevin was converted to Christ while at University, along with his wife Charlene. He received his M.Div. from Central Baptist Seminary, first attending because he wanted to learn quickly, but soon realizing that he was to make his living from the Gospel.
Kevin loves to develop elders and minister together as a shepherding team. His passion is to study God’s Word and teach and preach it. He has five adult children, with four married, and seven grandchildren with the expectation of many more.
Nick Baetz - Youth Pastor
Nick Baetz has been at Peoples Church since 2016. He is a graduate of Heritage College and Seminary with his BRE-P in Youth and Family ministries. Nick began serving in youth ministry in 2010 as a volunteer, and felt God calling him to pursue youth ministry vocationally after graduating from Bible College.
Nick is married to Cassandra and they have two young sons. Nick enjoys playing and watching sports (especially soccer), going on hikes with his family, and playing mini sticks with his son. Nick loves teaching and studying God’s Word and loves ministering to teens and families. He desires to see teens come to know Christ as Lord and Saviour and to grow in their walk with Him.
These men serve our congregation in hands-on, practical ways. Our ministers of mercy, they assist the elders by facilitating ministry with the material and physical needs of the people. These two groups work in concert with the congregation to encourage and foster a vibrant Body Life that reflects Christ's intended desire for His people at Peoples Church.
