Paul sees the overwhelming love that Jesus displayed on the cross and knows that it is his privilege to suffer for such a saviour! Acts 5:41 – “Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.” Followers of Jesus in the Bible were exceedingly glad that their proclamation of the Gospel was deemed worthy enough to suffer.

We have forgotten this privilege in the church today. Far too many Christians preach the Gospel, experience persecution and then run for the hills. Far too many Christians preach the Gospel, experience hardship, and decide to soften the message and make it more palatable for our society.
