Have Questions?
Here are a few FAQ's.
What can People's Church offer our family?Join us for worship and teaching from God's Word. At present the service is held at 10:30 a.m. A time for fellowship and coffee is provided following the service. It's a good time to meet people and get acquainted. Sunday mornings, beginning at 9:15 a.m., we have learning opportunities for the entire family. Nursery attendants care for the little ones and seek to have a positive Christian influence on them. All age groups have classes for them, including Junior and Senior high school students. The adults have two or more electives available from which to choose. There are various activities for Junior and Senior high students, including outreach activities, growth Bible studies, and leadership training opportunities. Please check with the office for information regarding upcoming activities. What do you mean by "Having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ"?We believe that the major problem of mankind is a problem of sin and separation from God. Jesus Christ was the only sinless human being, because He was also God. He died a cruel death on the cross for our sins, not His, but ours. The Bible says: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name". A person comes into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ when they confess their inescapable sinfulness and believe in Him for forgiveness. How does someone become a member?Membership at Peoples is open to anyone who has a clear experience of salvation by faith in the substitutionary death of Christ for their sin. As well, they must be in agreement with the articles of faith and the governing principles of the church. Interest in membership should be expressed to the Pastor who will arrange for interview and/or membership classes. Following this, on a designated Sunday, new members are welcomed. What do you practice regarding communion, baptism, and child dedication? Communion- We usually celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month. Anyone who has trusted in Christ for salvation is welcome to participate. Baptism- We practice baptism by immersion for believers only. Child Dedication- In place of infant baptism we practice child dedication. It is a special time for parents to give their children to the Lord and commit themselves to provide the spiritual nature that will lead their child into a growing understanding and faith in Jesus Christ. Why don't you use the offering plate during the morning service? While we encourage all regular attendees to practice faithful stewardship of all resources God entrusts to them, we believe that this is primarily a "family" matter. We want those who visit us to be our guests. We believe that this helps if you don't feel an obligation when an offering plate is passed. |
