We Believe in Christ. We Belong to Christ. We Serve Christ.
Our Ministry of Women committee oversees the women's Bible studies, several women's events at the church through the year, and an occasional retreat. This ministry is dedicated to help and equip women to grow in their relationship with the Lord and with one another.
Bible Studies are held at the church throughout the week during most of the school year, and sometimes a summer study as well. Our Fall 2019 studies are outlined below. Please prayerfully consider which study to participate in. All studies will take place on Tuesdays--two in the morning from 9:15-11:00 and one in the evening at 7:00.
The following studies will begin Tuesday, September 10, 2019:
1 Peter: Be Hopeful
“Hope is not a sedative; it is a shot of adrenaline, a blood transfusion." Through clever word pictures like this, author and former pastor Warren Wiersbe preaches the same message Peter preached so long ago. Turning each enlightening page, believers gain increasing confidence in true Hope, a God in whom they don't just wish for eternal life. In Scripture, hope means the promise of salvation for those who have accepted Him and His Son's death and resurrection.
Christians who possess this hope and live as though they possess it will learn godly submission, holy living, and harmony with other believers. These qualities will prepare them for what Peter paints in his epistle as inevitable—suffering and persecution. Though Peter is writing to warn a people who would soon be under the tyranny of a heathen Roman emperor, some level of suffering will always be a part of the believer’s journey. A time is soon coming when living the "comfortable" Christian life will be far more costly than the life willing to give up all.
The cost of the book is $10 if you sign up in advance.
The Mingling of Souls
The Mingling of Souls is a study of love, dating, marriage, intimacy, and redemption based on Song of Solomon. This is a video series in conjunction with Matt Chandler's book The Mingling of Souls: God's Design for Love, Marriage, Sex & Redemption. In a culture where the foundations of attraction, love, marriage, and sex are rapidly eroding, Matt Chandler offers an eternal, counter-intuitive perspective from the biblical book of Song of Solomon. Scripture says we're to nurture our hearts above all else—yet we are inundated with songs, movies, and advice that contradict and cheapen God's design for love and intimacy. This study is designed to help both married couples and prepare singles to navigate these concerns.
The cost of the book is $12 if you sign up in advance.
Abide: 1, 2, 3 John (Evening Study)
Truth and love are recurring themes throughout John’s three epistles. As those changed by God, genuine believers will characteristically love the truth and exhibit true love for others. During our study of Abide, by Jennifer Wilkin, we will look at three things that God wants in our lives: joy, holiness, and assurance.
The apostle wrote:
“And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.” (1 John 1:4)
“I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.”
(1 John 2:1)
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.”
(1 John 5:13)
Your joy will be full; you will more readily and eagerly turn from sin, and you will have assurance of your eternal life. That’s part of the purpose for which the Spirit of God inspired these letters. Does that interest you? Good, then we hope to see you there as we dig into the Scriptures together!
This study will take place at the church on Tuesday evenings beginning September 10th at 7:00pm. There is no cost for the study materials, but please bring a binder, a Bible, and pen.
Please sign up for the study you plan to participate in. Thank you.
