Thank You Lord!

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Peoples Church!

Most of us were brought up to say, thank you, when we receive a gift or blessing of some sort. When we receive a blessing, we acknowledge the blessing with all the joy we feel and have experienced.

Before the first Christmas, Zechariah and Elizabeth desired a child. The angel visited Zechariah and said: Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. Luke 1:13–14 (ESV).

As you know Zechariah, instead of gratitude, questioned God in doubt. He was silenced for the duration of the pregnancy, and only at John the Baptist’s birth and circumcision was his tongue loosened and he spoke forth his gratitude, blessing God (vs. 64). He learned to thank God!
God has given the most special Gift to all men, and how appropriate to remember to give thanks at Christmas:

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.

John 4:10
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

Jesus Christ, and our salvation through His blood, is God’s great gift to mankind. God gave Him, we receive Him—for as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to be called Sons of God. Even to them who believe on His Name.

Thank You Lord! Thank you very very much!

Blessings this Christmas to all of you!
